How to clean the house in two hours (and get the kids involved)
This cleaning plan will help you get rid of the feeling that you’re always cleaning but don’t see any results. We’ll be focusing on the essentials and will show you how to keep motivated and move forward so you can tackle those chores.
What about the children at home? You can still have them to help them, but they are not required to. You might think you can do it faster without them. Here’s the thing.
You will make your kids better people if you teach them how to be good team players and clean. You’ll be able to trust your cleaners in the future. It’ll be worth it, we swear!
Before You Start
Rethink the Cleaning: Having children may mean that you are not able to have the home of your dreams. Let this sink in: Your house is meant to be lived in.
You should be grateful for your kids who are always playing, laughing, and making a mess in your home. Your home will not always be perfect. It’s OK.
Decluttering is a great way to get rid of clutter. If clutter is overwhelming in your home, get rid of it first. You don’t have to stress over cleaning up a messy home with children running underneath you.
They are there to help you, we’re sure. Overwhelming clutter can lead to confusion.
Take a deep breath. You can choose one room at a given time and start to sort through the items you wish to keep, donate, or trash. This can take weeks or even months. That’s OK! It’s worthwhile and will pay you back for the time spent decluttering.
Keep it simple: This two-hour cleaning program doesn’t contain any more deep cleaning products. You can add on items if you have additional time. This cleaning plan is designed to make you feel confident and help you plan your approach to having a cleaner home and a happier family.
Get Motivated: Our favorite tip for cleaning your home quickly is to be super motivated before you even start. Here are some of our favorite tips:
- Bring everyone along and reward them when you are done. The kids may enjoy a popsicle outside or time to walk if they help. Encourage the notion of working together. Working together will make it easier to have fun later.
- Put on music! Sometimes cleaning is exhausting and mindless. Music can lift your spirits!
- Visualize the end result. You are looking forward to relaxing in a beautiful, clean house. Do you have plans to host a movie night in your living room? You have to be motivated to complete the job.
- You can set a timer so you don’t lose focus. This is a great method to keep your kids engaged and challenged.
- In your kitchen window, place a vase with fresh flowers. Fresh flowers motivate us to keep the home feeling fresh and homey by reminding us to tidy up.
